  5. Great question! There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong way to strum the ukulele. The most important thing about your strumming motion should be that it is relaxed and consistent sounding. Using the index finger is a very popular way to strum, but like you, I don’t find it very comfortable. I prefer using the nail-side of my middle and ring fingers for down strums and the side of my thumb for up strums. You’ll notice different ways of strumming pull a different tone out of the ukulele too.

  6. hey, i have a question. is it important to strum only with your index? i’m asking this because i saw somewhere that you should strum with your index but i’m more comfortable strumming with my index and thumb.

I just got my first uke from guitar center this week, its A Lanikai LU-11 and its a really nice one to start off on, once you get it tuned and keep messing with it, the strings will settle and its just a nice thing to have, and it was relatively cheap, I only had to pay 55$ for it and it was money well spent :)
